The International Department at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) is looking to expand its cooperation projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. This development comes in response to the growing need for addressing the continent’s significant human rights issues, particularly those related to private investments and corporate social responsibility. New cooperation projects will focus on knowledge exchange, research, and education.

2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the Oslo Coalition on Freedom of Religion or Belief. The OC celebrated with a successful conference at Litteraturhuset earlier this fall.

She was an outstanding scholar of religion and a profound researcher, with particular expertise in Islam and the Coptic church. She introduced new and original approaches to the field, especially concerning religion and human rights.

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) is proud to welcome two Indonesian judges Kemala Nababan and Karell Mawla Ibnu Kamali, who have recently begun their two-year master’s programme in the Theory and Practice of Human Rights.

Monday was the first day of the 11th UN Mechanisms workshop in Geneva, this year gathering participants from the ASEAN region.

Each spring semester, students on the Master's programme 'The Theory and Practice of Human Rights' have the possibility to undertake internships in various organisations through partnerships established over several years. Student internships are an integral part of the course 'Human Rights in Practice,' which aims to give students practical hands-on experience of human rights-related work.

An event to celebrate a new book and to honour the retirement of Professor emeritus Bård Anders Andreassen, a longstanding NCHR professor and co-editor of the book.

Through a partnership with the Tolerance and Diversity Institute and the UNDP in Georgia, the Oslo Coalition on Freedom of Religion or Belief, NCHR is organizing a blended learning course on national and international standards and mechanisms for the protection of freedom of religion or belief as a fundamental human right.

The Norwegian Center for Human Rights has made available grants for visiting researchers from other academic institutions

NCHR and our partner, the Geneva Academy (GA), will hold the eleventh Training Workshop on UN Human Rights Mechanisms on 24-28 June in Geneva, Switzerland. This workshop is for participants from selected Asian countries only and will include regional perspectives.
