Background 

Within International Law, Huda worked as a practitioner within her field of interest, focusing on International refugee protection and child protection in humanitarian settings in the UN and NGO sectors. Her particular interest is the intersection between human rights and Humanitarian Law, particularly in situations of occupation. Her key research interest and work concerns the human rights issues in Occupied Palestine. In 2010, she served as Deputy Leader for The Association of Norwegian NGOs for Palestine.

Her two Masters publication includes "National Liberation Movements Subject to Occupation” and "Legal Consequences of Destruction and Uprooting Olive Trees in the Occupied Palestine.” She has a dual bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oslo and Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

In the NGO sector, she has worked for YMCA-YWCA, Human Rights House Network, and Right to Play International, where she worked as a Child Protection Lead. She has also served as a Child Protection in Emergencies Programme Specialist at Plan International U.K., supporting the design and implementation of Child protection interventions mainly in Africa and Asia, where she led a study on child modern slavery in emergencies. In the United Nations, she has worked for the United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Malaysia and Somalia.

Huda holds Master degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS and an LL.M. in Public International Law from the University of Oslo, where she focused on areas such as Public International Law, Humanitarian Law, International Women's Rights Law, including women’s rights in Islamic law, and Criminal Law.

Huda is certified in Prince2 Project Management from the University of Westminster, holds a certificate in International Child Rights from the University of Nottingham and a Diploma in international humanitarian assistance From Fordham University.
