Background
Director of the China Programme at the Norwegian Centre for human rights since 2006.  Cand. Polit. (political science) from NTNU/University of Oslo with a specialization on Asia, international relations and human rights. MA thesis on Sino-Vietnamese relations was written while working as research assistant for the project “Energy and Security in the South China Sea” at the Centre for Development and the Environment (SUM),University of Oslo.

Ms. Bakke studied at Fudan University in Shanghai 1996/1998 and was a visiting scholar at the China Academy of Social Science (CASS), Faculty of law in Beijing in 2005. In March 2008 Ms. Bakke was a visiting scholar at the Nordic Institute for Asian Studies (NIAS) in Copenhagen in relation to a research project on business and human rights.

She has participated in the human rights dialogue with China over several years, and has also taken part in the human rights dialogue meetings between Norway and Vietnam.
