Ongoing election
In the autumn of 2026, a new Head will be elected for the following department:
- The Department of Private Law
The term of office is from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2030. The position as Head of Department is described in Administration regulations of the faculty § 30 (in Norwegian).
If you are affiliated with the department holding the election, you will receive information about the election via email.
Candidate proposals
The Head of Department is elected by staff and registered students at the respective department.
A candidate proposal shall be presented in written form to the Electoral Committee. Candidate proposals for the election of Heads of Departments must be signed by at least five individuals with the right to vote in the respective election. Nobody can sign more than one proposal to the same position. Alternatively, staff who wish to run for election themselves, or have proposals for candidates, can contact a member of the Electoral Committee.
The rules regarding the right to propose candidates are governed by the University’s Election Regulation § 10 (in Norwegian).
The deadline for submitting proposals for the position is 1 October.
Voting rights
Those eligible to vote are:
- academic staff in permanent positions at the respective department
- academic staff in temporary positions at the respective department
- technical-administrative staff at the respective department
- semester-registered students at the respective department
Implementation of the elections
The elections will be executed in one of two ways:
- As an electronical election based on preference, if there are two or more candidates that runs for election
- If there is only one candidate proposal, the candidate will be elected by the current Department Board in accordance with the University's Election Regulation §26 pt. 2.
The electronical election will take place from 12 October - 19 October 2026.
The results will be announced on 27 October 2026.
The Electoral Committee
The Faculty Board has appointed an electoral committee for the Department of Private Law:

The Electoral Board
The Faculty Board has appointed an Electoral Board of the Faculty for the period 01.01.23-31.12.26. The Electoral Board consists of:
- Associate Professor Sofie Høgestøl (Head of The Electoral Board), with professor Sigrid Stokstad as deputy member
- Doctoral Research Fellow Victoria Skeie, with Doctoral Researh Fellow Katrine Antonsen as deputy member
- Student Ines Løken Gheziel, with student Adele Tang Engesmo as deputy member
- Section Manager Steinar Hafto Myre
The Electoral Board is responsible for conducting the elections of the Dean, Vice-Dean, Head of Department, deputy Head of Department, and the Faculty Board and Department Boards/Councils, in accordance with the University’s Election Regulations.
The Faculty Director organizes an Election Secretariat subordinate to the Electoral Board. Adviser Victoria Alice Knutsen Hatløy is the contact person for the Election Secretariat.
