About the webinar

Gas and electricity prices reached record levels in 2022, in the aftermath of COVID-19 restrictions and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Energy prices were expected to remain high due to uncertainty in the market, with knock-on effects across the economy and, at least allegedly, potential windfall profits for certain market players. In this context, the European Union adopted Regulation (EU) 2022/1854 setting out an emergency intervention in the European Union's energy markets to address sharp electricity price rises. This Regulation has recently given rise to case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (notably case C 633/23 Electrabel) with more decisions expected from the Court. This webinar aims at providing legal insights and prospective analysis on these evolutions.
