Milch researches developments within border externalization as her PhD project, with a focus on Lebanon. Read more about the project here.
Background
Milch holds an M.Phil degree in Theory and Practice of Human Rights from the University of Oslo (2020). Her master's dissertation focused on legal aid provided to refugees in humanitarian operations, as was part of the REF-ARAB research project led by Prof. Maja Janmyr.
Before starting her PhD, Milch worked as research assistant and later research consultant on the the three inter-linked projects BEYOND, REF-ARAB and ASILE, focusing on how international refugee law is shaped, implemented and mobilized in states that are not parties to the 1951 Refugee Convention.
Milch has been affiliated with the American University of Beirut as a guest researcher in 2023 and research intern in 2017. She has also held internships with the Norwegian Refugee Council in Oslo (2019), and Alef - Act for Human Rights in Beirut (2017).
