I have more than 17 years experience working with development cooperation, including 13 years’ experience focused on human rights and capacity development. I have a particular geographical interest in Indonesia, having lived close to a decade in the country.

Thematically, I am particularly interested in business and human rights, rule of law, economic, social and cultural rights, as well as rural development and resource management, and how environmental factors impacts on human rights.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the International Department’s project portfolio rule of law in Indonesia, which consists of research projects and capacity-building activities, targeting three different groups: academia, the judiciary and civil society.

Responsible for various projects with civil society to conduct research, capacity-building and advocacy in areas prone to conflict between businesses and local communities.

This has previously included studies and outreach activities related to the human rights impacts of the oil palm sector, including the Palm Oil Sector and Human Rights – a case study on Palm Oil Corporations in Central Kalimantan and Privatisasi Transmigrasi dan Kemitraan Plasma Menopang Industri Sawit  as well as activities focused on promotion of rights-based implementation of Indonesia’s Village law.

Responsible for the annual NCHR Intensive Course in Human Rights.

I have previously worked for 2,5 years at the Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta, managing part of the embassy’s development portfolio.
