Background and academic Interests
Christian is a PhD Research Fellow in the PROBONO-project at the Department of Public and International Law. His research interests are broadly focused on the legal underpinnings of capitalism, and how the global political economy is shaped by how different actors utilize, influence and contest its international legal frameworks. In his previous academic work, he has worked mainly on international investment law and its investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanism.
In his PhD thesis, he will continue to explore how foreign investment governance in the Global South has been shaped by pro bono work from law firms participating in capacity-building programs facilitated by international development organisations.
Before coming to UiO, Christian spent three years in Brussels as a justice sector officer at the EFTA/EEA Financial Mechanism Office. Previously, he worked with trade policy at the OECD, as policy advisor at the UN Global Compact Norway and was a trainee at the Norwegian Mission to the UN in New York. He holds a bachelor's in communication studies from Kristiania and an LLM in International Law with secondary specialisation in International Relations from the University of Kent.
