Academic interests

My overarching academic interest is climate mitigation law and perspectives from behavioral economics/law economics.

My PhD project offers perspectives on the governing norms of climate mitigation in EU/EEA climate mitigation law. How does the polluter pays principle govern the 1) incentives offered and 2) cost allocation of mitigation towards net zero and net negative emissions?

The doctoral project is financed by the interdisciplinary research center Norwegian Carbon Capture and Storage (NCCS).

I am currently working on the following topics:

- How does the polluter pays principle in the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union set parameters for EU climate mitigation measures towards net zero and net negative emissions?

- To what extent does the Paris Agreement imply an obligation to set net negative emission targets?

- Given a behavioral law and economics perspective: what legslative instruments will most effectively incentivise net CO2 removal?

- The experience with carbon capture and storage in Norway: legal framework and practical application
