Elisabeth Bjørnstøl, Head of Equality and non-discrimination at the NCHR International Department visited Indonesia last week in order to initiate a new cooperation programme on legal aid for women and disabled people in Indonesia.

The NCHR and the Constitutional Research Institute at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) recently held a workshop on gender equality and human rights for Chinese university teachers in Chengdu, Western China.

To mark the International Women’s Day on Monday 8 March, the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) would like to point to our Chinese partners important work towards gender equality in China. Raising awareness about domestic violence in China, contributing to better education on gender and human rights in Chinese universities and publication of the first Chinese textbook on gender and human rights are some of the achievements our Chinese partners have made with the support of the NCHR. 

En ny kinesisk lærebok om kjønn og menneskerettigheter er utgitt i Kina. Boken er den første av sitt slag og er skrevet av en gruppe kinesiske forskere og sivilsamfunnsrepresentanter med god kjennskap til likestilling og menneskerettighetsspørsmål.

This weekend, the NCHR and the Constitutional Research Institute at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) held a workshop on gender equality and human rights for Chinese university teachers in Chengdu, Western China.

The NCHR has supported the publication of three Chinese books about how to counter domestic violence against children, against women and against the elderly. The books were launched on July 13 with a seminar about the implementation of the Chinese anti-domestic violence law.

The NCHR hosted a panel on Legal Education for Equality in China during the International Conference of the Nordic Association for China Studies (NACS) in Bergen last week.
