About Business and Human Rights
The growing impact and influence of business enterprises have led to increased attention to their roles and responsibilities in relation to human rights.
Scholars at the NCHR have been engaged on this topic for a long time, and contributed to the development of the 2003 Draft Norms on the Responsibilities of Transnational Corporations and Other Business Enterprises with regard to Human Rights (un.org). The International Department has been engaged in this field since the adoption of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP).
Our collaboration projects are based on international standards, acknowledging how companies can positively impact the development agenda while at the same time addressing human rights violations related to business activities.
