Zimbabwe quo vadis?

Focus on the current escalation of authoritarian and repressive politics in Zimbabwe:

Political and social conditions have deteriorated rapidly in Zimbabwe over the last months. Challenged by a genuine political opposition (Movement for Democratic Change, MDC), Mugabe's government has reverted to repressive political measures, political violence and introduction of laws to tighten control and reinforce state power. Torture and other serious human rights violations are reported by independent observers, and the regime is increasingly at odds with the international community as Presidential elections are approaching (set for 9-10 March). In order to discuss this development, and the role of the international community, the Department of Media and Communication (DMC) and the South Africa Program of the Norwegian Institute of Human Rights (NIHR), both University of Oslo, are organizing a seminar:
