Courses and trainings
Since 1997, the China Programme has developed training courses in international human rights law for Chinese university teachers in partnership with Chinese academic institutions. These intensive teacher trainings courses typically focus on various aspects of international human rights law, curriculum development and teaching methods and more than 600 teachers have attended courses. Participating teachers have later opened human rights law courses at more than 100 universities across China. The NCHR has also developed trainings and seminars for judges, journalists, legal aid workers and other professional groups.
E-learning
The NCHR supports production of Chinese language e-learning courses on human rights law in order to provide high quality, easily accessible and free resources that can be used by a wide variety of audiences interested in an introduction to international human rights law. This is a cooperation with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute and the Research Centre for Human Rights at Peking University.
NCHR Academy of Human Rights
The NCHR Academy of Human Rights organises annual introductory short courses on international human rights in Oslo. International applications are welcomed and every year the NCHR welcomes Chinese academics, experts, civil society representatives and government officials to take part in the course.
Human Rights Education Network Meetings
The NCHR, together with Nordic partners, arrange annual network meetings where Chinese university teachers from all over China can meet and discuss curriculum development, teaching methodology, and structure of human rights courses. The meetings are arranged in cooperation with Chinese and Asian academic institutions.
Human Rights Research
Relevant and high quality research is needed to ensure the development of Chinese laws and policies which can contribute to increased respect for human rights. The NCHR supports Chinese research initiatives, engages in cooperative projects and provides opportunities for Chinese scholars from a range of disciplines to undertake research on human rights related issues through scholarships and research trainings

The NCHR has supported Chinese research and publications on human rights, human rights education, anti-discrimination, multidisciplinary human rights research, labor rights and women's rights
Visiting scholar Programme in Oslo
The NCHR has hosted more than 70 visiting scholars from China. Research stays are announced annually in China and on our webpages. Visiting scholars meet with Scandinavia-based experts, participate in seminars, and provide the NCHR with advice and input. After their return to China, many of the scholars have made important contributions to their fields of research and to policy and legal development processes.
