After conversion and installation
Your files and document storage
Once the machine is reinstalled and converted, the primary storage area will be OneDrive. This means, for example, that the Desktop will display files and folders from the Desktop folder in OneDrive. It is important that you are signed in to OneDrive for files to be saved correctly (synchronized to the cloud). You can see if you are logged in by clicking the blue cloud icon at the bottom right corner of your screen. Read more about OneDrive here.
If you need access to your old home area (M:), you can mount it like this.
Shared areas should be mounted automatically. If you are missing them, they can be manually mounted like this.
Remote desktop access to the office computer will no longer be awailable. The best alternative for those who still use this and do not have a UiO laptop, is the UiO Programkiosk. Read more about the UiO Programkiosk here.
Printing
Printers are installed automatically. If you are missing this, you can install it from the Company Portal, which you can find in the Start menu. It is important to use the correct queue according to the printer model, i.e., “HP on PULL” for HP printers, and “Ricoh on PULL” for Ricoh printers.
Software
The machine comes with the standard MS365 package (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneDrive, and OneNote). Additional software can be installed without administrator rights from the Company Portal, which you can find in the Start menu.
