NORHED II funding for global network on Peace and Conflict Human Rights research

The Norhed II project where the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) partners with the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and five leading institutions to strengthen higher education institutions ability to produce high-quality research and teaching has been granted. Norad received 199 applications to this call, of which 60 will be funded.
NCHR event on Oslo Peace Days about Poverty and Human Rights, with Philip Alston

On the Oslo Peace Days week 2020 NCHR contributed with several events, this one on 9th December: 'Who Counts? Poverty, Human Rights and Contentious Metrics'. With key-note speaker Philip Alston, former UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and nearly 200 participants from government, academics, different public organizations and civil society. Support to Human Rights Defenders during the pandemic time

Just before the start of the Oslo Peace Days 2020 last week, NCHR and the Norwegian Human Rights Fund held a digital event on the role of Norwegian and international support to human rights defenders during an after the pandemic, which represents a time with an increased of risks for human rights defenders. Close to 200 participants from government, different public organizations, academics and civil society took part in the event.
Workshop on Business and Human Rights for Chinese Teachers

The demand for Business and Human Rights competence is growing and the NCHR, together with China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) made an effort to bridge the gap with a workshop from 31 October to 1 November.
Refugee Protection and Digital Legal Aid in the Middle East

This two-part online workshop considers how humanitarian technology-use can interact with refugee protection, specifically in the Middle East. The workshop specifically questions if and how digital legal aid practices could constructively contribute to refugee rights and rights of refugees.
