Faglige interesser

Lohnes tematiske hovedinteresse er rettsliggjøringens og straffens rolle i å skape global sosial orden. Dette kommer til uttrykk i flere av hennes tidligere og pågående forskningsprosjekter om:

  • det internasjonale strafferettsfeltet og særlig ICC - Den internasjonale straffedomstolen i Haag (se f.eks. Advocates of Humanity)
  • krigen mot terror og særlig det amerikanske militærtribunalet på Guantánamo Bay hvor hun gjorde feltarbeid i 2016 (se f.eks "Observing Justice at Guantanamo Bay").
  • nordiske forståelser av straff i utenrikspolitikken gjennom bidrag til rettsstatsbygging og kriminalitetsbekjempelse i andre land (se prosjektside JustExports)
  • rettslig mobilisering og rettighetsperspektiver i sivilsamfunnet (se prosjektsidene AidinCrisis og Scandinavian Rights Revolution)
  • rettssosiologiske ringvirkninger av samfunnets reaksjoner på voldelig ekstremisme (se prosjektside LAW22JULY: RIPPLES)

Lohne har også publisert i internasjonale forskningstidskrifter på ulike temaer som personvern og datalagring, kriminalitet og kjønn, droner i krigføring og humanitære operasjoner, etikk, "post-truth", og rettslig mobilisering generelt.

Lohne underviser og veileder på samtlige emner ved IKRS, og er emneansvarlig for

Lohne har undervist og sensurert ved en rekke nasjonale og internasjonale universiteter. 

Bakgrunn

Kjersti Lohne (f. 1984) har ph.d. i kriminologi fra Universitetet i Oslo fra 2015. Avhandlingen Advocates of Humanity: Human Rights NGOs in International Criminal Justice er en analyse av fremveksten av og dynamikken rundt den internasjonale strafferettsdomstolen ICC, og kombinerer perspektiver fra kriminologi, rettssosiologi, internasjonal rett og politisk sosiologi. Analytisk setter avhandlingen fokus på meningsinnholdet i straff og rettferdighet som transnasjonale snarere enn nasjonale fenomen. Avhandlingen har siden blitt publisert som bok og utgitt av Oxford University Press, og er anmeldt her, her og her. En lengre anmeldelse kan leses her. Lohne har tidligere jobbet på Politihøgskolen, PluriCourtsInstitutt for fredsforskning (PRIO), og Institutt for offentlig rett. Hun har vært gjesteforsker ved Center for International Criminal Justice ved VU University Amsterdam, Centre for Criminology ved Universitetet i Oxford og iCourts ved Københavns Universitet.

Lohne er nestleder av Akademiet for yngre forskere, og har en rekke verv ved fakultetet og universitetet. 

Lohne fikk innvilget Yngre forskertalent-midler fra NFR (FRIPRO) på prosjektet "Promoting Justice in a Time of Friction: Scandinavian Penal Exports" med oppstart 2021.

  • Lohne mottok i 2017 Hans Majestet Kongens gullmedalje for hennes doktoravhandling.
  • Lohne og Sandvik nominert til Årets tidsskriftsartikkel 2017 av Oslo Law Review.
  • Lohne tildelt Royichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund i 2013 og 2014.
